Through an unprecedented ceremony, more than 5,000 Army conscripts took the Pledge of Allegiance

More of 5 thousand conscript soldiers of the Army participated yesterday, in the different units throughout the country, in an unprecedented ceremony in which two traditional acts were merged: the Delivery of Arms and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Delivery of Arms is always carried out during the first months of the year, while the Pledge of Allegiance takes place on July 9 and 10, in homage to the 77 heroes of the La Concepción Combat.

This year, however, Due to the health emergency, both acts were postponed to October, since the new contingent was just quartered in the middle of last September.

In this opportunity, 4,291 men and 907 women, who voluntarily perform their military service in the different Army units, sealed their commitment to serve the Homeland, “To give up his life if necessary”, according to the official oath.

The Defense Minister Mario Desbordes attended the Army Telecommunications School, where he presided over the ceremony in which 36 female conscripts they received their weapons and took their oath.

The Government authority pointed out that “those of us who have made this pledge to the flag know that it is a commitment of total surrender. Our national flag symbolizes and represents Chile, the nation, our homeland, that’s why the depth of this ceremony ”.

Desbordes also highlighted that “This is an exciting day for any Chilean and one that fills all families of the soldiers who are sworn in with pride. There are more than 5 thousand conscript soldiers throughout Chile, of which more than 900 are women (…) It is a milestone that they will not forget for the rest of their lives, and I think it symbolizes with all that it means to be a military man ”.

The Director of the School of Telecommunications, Colonel Claudio OrellanaHe referred to the La Concepción combat, which is commemorated every July 9 and 10 with the Oath.

“Feel also the honor of belonging to this undefeated Army, to this institution of all Chileans (…) with full disposition also to help and support when the catastrophe shakes us, as is happening today throughout the entire national territory, “he said.
