The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, affirmed today that the teams of the Ministry of Health “will work to the maximum” to deliver the 49 thousand emails requested by the Central North regional prosecutor, Xavier Armendáriz, in the framework of his investigation into the COVID deaths .
In today’s health report, Paris was consulted about the ruling of the 7th Guarantee Court of Santiago, which rejected the 42-day request made by the Ministry for the delivery of the emails and gave a period of three business days, which was would meet next Wednesday.
“I do not consider it any setback, these are the vicissitudes of the Justice. The lawyers of the Ministry of Health asked for an extension, it was not granted and we are obviously going to fully comply with the judge’s opinion and the emails will be delivered, obviously in the deadline, “Paris said.
“It must be remembered that there are 49,000 emails, from which we must select those that may endanger national security or the privacy of patients,” he added.
Paris does not defy Justice
“We will do it as quickly as possible, we will have to hire people or have many people working on it during these three business days that have been granted, but we will deliver all the information as we have always said,” he emphasized.
“If that is the mandate, it will be done, we are here to fulfill the mandate of the Justice when the reasons given are understandable and in this case, as the possibility of extending the term was rejected, we will make every effort,” he reiterated.
In that sense, he announced that “both the information technology officials and the legal team will work to the maximum to respond to the judge’s request.”
The prosecutor Armendariz investigates the deaths of people with covid in the framework of the complaints filed by Mayor Daniel Jadue, Senator Alejandro Navarro and human rights organizations against President Sebastián Piñera, former Minister Jaime Mañalich and Minsal officials .
The alleged illicit crimes are homicide and manipulation of figures.
