With three detainees aged 16, 17 and 26, the day of demonstrations that took place yesterday in the center of High Bridge and that it was summoned by the First Line movement of that commune to carry out an unauthorized march.

According to the Carabineros, about 500 people gathered, many of them minors who threw stones, destroyed traffic signs, lit barricades and stole fire extinguishers from buses of collective locomotion.

In addition, destruction on public and private property, where various deterrents had to be used to disperse the protesters, a situation that normalized around midnight.

This was confirmed by Colonel Jorge Miranda, prefect of the Cordillera de Carabineros Prefecture.


As a balance, there were damages in offices of the Civil Registry, the Cordillera Provincial Government and BancoEstado.

Attack on SAPU

One of the most complex events was the damage suffered by the RUB (Primary Emergency Care Service) Alejandro del Río located in Gandarillas street.

According to witnesses, a person who participated in the demonstrations would have touched a woman. The individual, upon being discovered, was attacked by a group of at least 15 people.

In his flight, the man entered the healthcare facility urgently, since the attackers tried to lynch him. It was at this time that a group of people generated various damage to windows and part of the infrastructure of the place, which could not continue with their normal attention.

Witnesses detailed part of what happened.

According to the health workers themselves, it is expected that in the next few hours the care of patients with symptoms of COVID-19, which during the early morning had to be referred to other nearby healthcare facilities.

Carabineros pointed out that all audiovisual records will be delivered to the corresponding Prosecutor’s Office so that what happened can be investigated.
