Under the custody of the Carabineros, around 400 people demonstrated near Plaza Italia for the third Friday in a row, being the most significant concentration since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Chile.

The protest has been divided into groups stationed on the bridge Pío Nono, the Forest Park, in front of the local Telepizza, the Bustamante Park, and the tray in front of the Theater of the University of Chile.

The police activated the water car on several occasions to disperse the protesters.

The day ended with 28 arrests for public disorder and violation of the sanitary norm, as reported by Carabineros.

Lieutenant colonel Mauricio Romero, in charge of the 19th Providencia Police Station – where the defendants remain – explained that in the midst of the riots “an undetermined number of subjects proceeded to throw blunt objects at Carabineros personnel, while others interrupted normal vehicular traffic at the intersection of Avenida Vicuña Mackenna with Providencia, so it proceeded to restore public order. “

Due to the incidents, there were detours for public transport in the sector.
