The Public Ministry investigates the theft of a box with 40 doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 Sinovac from Cesfam Miguel Ángel Arenas López de Curicó, in the Maule Region, an episode that occurs less than 24 hours after the disappearance of two injection units from the same laboratory in Calbuco, in the Los Lagos Region.
The disappearance of the formulas was denounced by the health authorities in the area in order to determine the whereabouts of the doses as soon as possible.
The Investigative Police (PDI), who was in charge of the investigations by instruction of the Prosecutor’s Office, reported that the fact was typified as a case of “aggravated theft” Y He called on the population not to buy stolen vaccines.
“For the community’s knowledge, vaccines, as is well known, have three requirements: they are voluntary, they are distributed by the authority and they have no cost, so if you manage to know or see that someone is going to generate another instance, it is obviously not (legal or health insurance). Further, (the doses) have lost their cold chain and, therefore, they should not be active and it is unknown if they can cause any harm “said the PDI provincial chief in Curicó, subprefect Gino Gutiérrez.
“The PDI has been formed with the Robbery Brigade, which is carrying out the pertinent procedures with experts from the Criminalistics Laboratory,” said the detective.
