They seize more than 400 kilos of marijuana type cripy in La Serena: there are two detainees

Equivalent to more than a million doses, valued in total at 2 billion pesos. This is what represents the latest seizure made by the Anti-Narcotics Brigade of the Investigative Police.

After a road control in the Juan Soldado sector, in La Serena, the police officers, supported by their canine unit, detected the transport of 407 kilos of cripy-type marijuana.

This is the third largest seizure carried out by this brigade in the area, an action that was highlighted by the mayor of Coquimbo, Lucía Pinto.

“We want to tell all those who are dedicated to drug trafficking that as a government, together with the police, we are not going to stop. We will continue working to detect, prosecute and punish those who commit these crimes, ”said the authority.

Additionally, he said that “despite the coronavirus pandemic, the work carried out by our Investigative Police will continue very intensively.”

According to PDI, the drugs moved inside a truck that was dragged by a crane. Said vehicle had a double bottom, in which the marijuana was stored.

The regional head of Investigations, prefect Ricardo Gatica, said that “drug trafficking is always mutating its strategies to move drugs and even more, in this time of pandemic, trucks are less controlled than cars and obviously, criminals use this tool to carry out their illicit businesses ”.

Its origin was from Iquique and its destination was the Metropolitan Region. “Crypto marijuana is foreign and has a higher cost in its commercialization and, obviously, its entry into the country is through unauthorized steps,” explained Commissioner Miguel Cabezas, Head of the Anti-Narcotics and Organized Crime Brigade of La Serena.

Two people were arrested for this diligence. Chilean citizens, both with prior records, and who, after the arrest control, were placed in preventive detention.
