Two Chileans carrying 45 days trapped in Honduras, product of the border blockages as a result of the coronavirus, they related their experience and how they must have survived.

“A year ago we planned a trip with my best friend, to tour all of Central America. The crisis caught us when we were crossing from Nicaragua to Honduras, thank God we were able to pass, because staying on the border is terror, in fact they almost assaulted us, “said Eduardo González, in conversation with Radio Bío Bío.

Once in Tegucigalpa, the capital, “we were allowed to enter the airport because we had a local flight, since there were no international flights to return to Chile.”

“We arrived at (the island of) Roatan and we have been unable to leave for 45 days. We were coming for three days, “he explained.

The tourist explained that “our cards are covered. We live on the charity of the people ”.

Franco, his friend, has been in contact with the Chilean authorities. “They offered us a flight, but to take it we had to go to San Pedro de Sula and we had to pay for a private plane of more than 2,000 dollars (more than 1.6 million pesos). It was totally unfeasible ”, said.

But they assure that from the Government they explained that they did not have the resources to pay for their accommodation. “We have had to be self-sufficient. We make a rod to fish and survive ”Franco assured.

“At night we go out fishing and with that we are feeding ourselves,” added Eduardo.

They also know of a family of Chileans, of three people, who are in a similar situation to theirs.

They ask for help since “no commercial aircraft can enter the island,” they detail.
