Private health workers asked the authorities to take measures to avoid layoffs and suspension of contracts, given the clinics’ decision to accept the so-called Employment Protection Law.

Also, parliamentarians will send letters and a project to avoid violation of rights in health personnel.

In addition to the layoffs in some clinics, now is the decision of private health facilities to accept the employment protection law, alluding to problems of income and liquidity, enhanced by the restrictions generated by the coronavirus.

The president of the National Federation of Private and Related Health Unions, Gloria Flores, questioned whether the cost is paid by workers, an essential sector in the pandemic.

“Health cannot be a business, the consequences are always paid by workers. However, there we have been the workers putting their faces, facing and wanting to care for our patients. It is more than a risk, knowing that the winter campaigns have not even started, “said Gloria Flores.

Meanwhile, deputies across the board announced measures, including the deputy of Social Convergence, Diego Ibáñez, and its pair of RN Andrés Celis.

“We are going to present a draft resolution for Congress to rule on the inapplicability of the Employment Protection Law in private health,” said Ibáñez.

“I will officiate to the authorities of the portfolio in order to establish concrete measures so that health personnel do not feel violated, but because on the contrary, the treatment is even better,” Celis said.

Both congressmen urged the Government to take charge of this situation.
