A 25-year-old is missing after capsizing while kayaking through the waters of Lake General Carrera, in the commune of Chile Chico in the Aysén region.
It was during the afternoon of this Wednesday when the kayaker decided to start his journey from the sector Blue Stone of Bahía Jara, in the mentioned commune.
According to the first antecedents, winds up to 28 knots They would have caused the accident involving the young man who was not wearing a life jacket or diving suit.
According to information provided by the Public ministry, about 150 meters from the shore, people spotted the capsize and immediately notified the emergency teams.
Prosecutor Álvaro Sanhueza indicated that personnel from Firefighters, Carabineros, SAMU and the Chilean Navy, managing to find only the kayak.
In this context, the persecutor instructed the teams in order to find the missing person.
“I ordered a coastal patrol by Carabineros personnel, together with volunteers from the Fire Department, as well as a search by the Navy in the place,” explained Sanhueza.
Work is expected to resume early this Thursday, supported by divers and an underwater robot from the GOPE de Carabineros, in addition to naval divers.
