The president of Sinaprof, Ricardo Heinsohn, condemned the attack and pointed out that the fact “demonstrates the risks to which our inspectors are exposed, in their efforts to control forest legislation. This is one of the points that as a union we have criticized against bills such as the National Forest Service (Sernafor), which contemplates the same control procedure, without changing one iota, by not contemplating an effective system, with Ministers of Faith with sanctioning power ”.

The facts
According to what was reported by Luarte to his colleagues, on Thursday, September 10 at 4:45 p.m. he went to carry out an inspection on a property in the area, fulfilling Conaf’s inspection functions.
After repeated calls at the house of the owner of the property and since he did not answer, LUarte decided to leave, at which point he was shot in the back, without any discussion or altercation. Wounded, the officer fled in his vehicle to realize that he was being followed by his attacker from another car at high speed.
The persecution ended when they ran into a sanitary control of Carabineros, who provided assistance to the inspector, while the author of the shots fled.
Claudio Luarte was transferred to the Lircay Clinic in Talca, where it was found that he suffered several impacts from pellets, one of them near the femoral artery, which put his life at risk.
After being intervened during the early hours of this Friday, and without vital risk, it was not possible to remove some of the pellets, so during this day their possible transfer to Santiago is being evaluated.
