The 24 Hours Central host, Iván Núñez, read this Saturday a Public Statement at the beginning of the newscast regarding statements by radio director Tomás Mosciatti where he referred to an alleged rapprochement of the public channel with the Saieh group.

Next, the statement:

“The director of radio bio bio Tomás Mosciatti in one of his comments made a series of statements for which we have the duty to make the following clarifications:

As a means of communication of the State we are legitimately subject to public scrutiny, however this examination must be carried out in accordance with reality. The board of directors, the administration and all of us who work at Televisión Nacional de Chile are responsible for the patrimony of this company, whose patrimony belongs to all Chileans.

Mr. Mosciatti affirmed that in the first quarter TVN lost 100 million dollars. That is not effective. The actual losses were $ 1.8 million. He also pointed out that we received and lost the resources for the cultural signal. This is also not effective. We have not received them, they could have been badly wasted.

TVN is not negotiating the purchase of any radio signal, it is not an issue that has never even been raised, neither by the administration nor by the board of directors. There are also no negotiations or contact of any kind between our channel and any economic group as suggested in this aforementioned comment.

In a context of crisis in the open television industry, to which the effects of the pandemic have been added, TVN is improving its results and we are grateful for this, both in terms of rating and economic, information that is publicly accessible. This is the product of the work of our station team and it is our professional and ethical duty to all Chileans ”.
