The Homicide Brigade (BH) of the Investigative Police (PDI) joined this Thursday to the search for a three-year-old boy who disappeared on Wednesday afternoon in the commune of Arauco, in the Biobío Region.

The event took place around 4:30 p.m. yesterday, when the child of three years and seven months, identified as Thomas, disappeared in the Caripilún sector on Route P-40, which connects the town of Lebu with Arauco, along the coastal area, next to the El Molino bridge, a place where he was with his great-uncle herding animals, a task to which the boy was already accustomed.
According to the records, the adult left him alone at one point to herd a cow that had been torn off, and when he returned to the place to look for the little one, he was gone.
About three hours later, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the search began, when the alert was given to firefighters.
The firefighters were joined in the search by the air personnel of the Carabineros, the canine unit for the discovery of people and drones with thermal cameras, as well as the underwater brigade and the Metropolitan People Location Brigade (Briup) of the PDI.
After the Arauco prosecutor, Carolina Molina, today ordered that the Homicide Brigade of the PDI of Concepción investigate the circumstances in which Tomás disappeared, the head (s) of the Biobío Prefecture, Carlos Sanhueza, said “Specialized officials from Santiago come to search for people, underwater, canines and, on the other hand, with our specialists in the region, with psychologists to contain the family.”
Regarding the search work, the police authority detailed that there are no detainees and that they continue with the collection of background information and “re-interviews with the minor’s great-uncle, as well as the family and many witnesses.”
