An outbreak similar to the one that occurs in Punta Arenas, but in Santiago. That is the main fear of the vice president of the Medical College, Patricio Meza, who explained that they look with great concern at what is happening in the regions, especially in the southern part of the country.

“The reappearance that exists in Punta Arenas or Magallanes could happen exactly in a few more weeks in Santiago. Therefore, the behavior that COVID-19 is having in regions, makes us think that the same could happen in Santiago,” he said in interview with 24 Hours.

“The important thing is that we do not take happy accounts. We are very concerned about what is happening in regions, such as Magallanes and Biobío, where we are with a second outbreak,” he added.

In this sense, he indicated that the figures should not be relied upon, since they often do not represent 100%. “National statistics are strongly influenced by what happens in the Metropolitan region,” he stressed.

“As long as we do not have a vaccine, we will have to continue protecting ourselves, having a very responsible attitude,” he said.

Finally, he called on the population not to get used to the number of deaths that one has daily.
