Her body was found north of the Ñuble river, while at the moment the last person who would have been with the woman is being detained. It was at the end of June that 42-year-old Carolina Fuentes traveled from Santiago to the rural area of Ninhue, in the Ñuble region, to sell a truck that she had received as an inheritance from her father.
Taking advantage of the passage through the area, the woman celebrated her birthday accompanied by her family. After this she would have spent a few days with a friend in the Reloca sector and then she would have been taken to the Chillán bus terminal to return to Santiago, where her children were waiting for her.
This friend is Ricardo Patricio Neira Arriagada, a 44-year-old man who was the woman’s high school classmate. During that time they would have had a romantic relationship. Despite the years, and that each one formed his family, they would never have stopped having contact.
The truck
Carolina arrived in mid-June to Ninhue, in the Ñuble region, to do some paperwork for the truck that belonged to her father.
He arrived in the Lircay sector, where his brother Osvaldo. He stayed with him and his family for a few days.
After completing the procedures, they moved to Chillán to sell the vehicle. According to data from Radio Bío Bío, the three brothers would have received about 500 thousand pesos each for the sale of the mobile.
Osvaldo confirmed that Ricardo accompanied them back to Ninhue. Carolina stayed with her brother until June 24, when she celebrated her birthday. The next day commented that he was leaving. That June 25 was the last day that her family saw the woman, when Ricardo went to look for her in the Lircay sector.

These messages would have been issued from Chillán, according to georeferencing data, however, his family indicated that the woman would not have sent them, since the form of writing did not correspond to her. Vest
It was 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, in the El Membrillar sector, north of the Ñuble River, when sport fishermen they found a body on the shore.
A large contingent of the PDI and the Ñuble Regional Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the place.
The body he had a red vest, garment that made presume that it could be Carolina. After the first tests, it was confirmed that they were human remains that correspond to a woman.
The body was referred to the Legal Medical Service of Chillán to carry out an autopsy to determine its identity, date and cause of death.
Until the area moved a son of Carolina Fuentes to take the corresponding exams and determine if the body belonged to his mother. The results confirmed this hypothesis.
Ricardo Patricio Neira Arriagada is being held by the PDI, awaiting its formalization and subsequent investigation, to determine whether or not it had participation in the disappearance and subsequent death of the woman.
This will happen in the Quirihue Guarantee Court at 12:00 hours. The Public Ministry will formalize it by the crime of femicide.
