Several criticisms circulate today on Twitter for a request made by the Ministry of Finance to the Superintendency of Pensions. Specifically, a letter signed by the holder of the portfolio, Ignacio Briones, asked the superintendent Osvaldo Macías to send him “the identification of the people, including their identity card number, who to date have requested withdrawal (from 10 % of AFPs) ”.

There it also asks to specify the amount withdrawn per person, and an identification of the people who could request the second withdrawal of 10%, with RUT. All this “in order to assess the implications that the eventual approval of the project (of the second withdrawal of 10%) would have,” the document details.

The Comptroller’s Office reported on Twitter that they have already received complaints about this document. “Its legality will be reviewed,” says the publication.

Congressman Giorgio Jackson posted on his Twitter account that “if true, this looks serious.”

For his part, the constitutional lawyer Fernando Atria said on the social network that “this is very unpresentable. Of course, it can be important to know how much withdrew, how many people withdrew, etc. But why do you need to know the RUT of each of those who retired? The minister must give explanations for this unusual request ”.

After being consulted the portfolio, they pointed out that “the Ministry of Finance according to its powers is permanently studying and proposing measures that affect matters related to the economic, social and financial policy of the State.”

That is why they said that “within its powers and in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, this State Portfolio requested information from the Superintendency of Pensions for purely statistical purposes, to monitor and evaluate the impact of the different measures of economic support that the population has received. Statistical information on the Government’s support measures can be found on our website: https://reporte.hacienda.cl ”.

In this sense, they detailed that “through the crossing of data from different departments, which the Ministry of Finance constantly carries out, the real impact of all the benefits implemented can be better measured (IFE; Covid-19 emergency bonus; protection of the employment; middle class bond; solidarity loan; Fogape; etc.), as well as the effects of the proposals that are discussed in Parliament to, in this way, ensure the efficient use of public resources “.

On the other hand, they indicated that “with respect to all data provided by the different public agencies, it is important to point out that all the safeguards and strict protocols necessary to safeguard people’s privacy are always adopted.”
