Various reactions generated in the political world by the president’s decision Sebastian Piñera to file an unconstitutionality request before the Constitutional Court (TC), for the project that would allow a second withdrawal of funds from the AFPs.

The helmsman of the Party for Democracy (PPD), Heraldo Muñoz, said that the Executive’s decision “It is confusing and it is also contrary to the feelings of the majority of citizens. In the first place, the government now objects to this second withdrawal, but nevertheless did nothing about the first withdrawal ”.

A similar vision has the senator Ximena Rincon (DC), who addressed the president: “Why do you want middle class families to keep scratching with their nails? President Piñera, why did you not resort to the TC with the first withdrawal? With his attitude he harms the Chileans who want to use their savings to pass the pandemic.

Deputy Andrés Celis (RN) he pointed out that “I can’t understand why he didn’t do it with the first 10% withdrawal and he does with this second withdrawal when both withdrawals must have the same legal grounds and even those elements of fact. I would have hoped for a greater coordination with the Government parliamentarians and even greater dialogue with those deputies and opposition senators ”.

In turn, the head of the PPD bench of deputies, Raul Soto, affirmed that “the Government of President Sebastián Piñera has resigned to govern for the vast majority of this country and has de facto become a minority government. Today he has decided to govern for a small group of interest, the big businessmen of this country, whom he decided to take care of, mainly the AFPs ”.

On the other hand, the senator Iván Moreira (UDI) stated that “The Government always puts us between a rock and a hard place, and is late with its decisions. The Government has every right to go to the Constitutional Court, but we have the right to keep our word. We are going to vote yes or yes on a bill or a constitutional reform that allows the withdrawal of 10% in the month of December ”.

“If it is necessary to vote both in favor (the Government’s project and that of the Chamber of Deputies) we will do so and finally the Constitutional Court will be the one that will settle this dispute. We cannot deceive citizens when we have made a commitment to them ”, he pointed.
