This morning the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, announced the balance regarding the advance of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
In this regard, he indicated that in the last 24 hours there were 2,659 new cases, of these, 2,301 were with symptoms and 358 asymptomatic cases.
With this, the total number of cases in the country amounts to 37,040. The number of recovered, that is, those who have spent 14 days since their diagnosis of the disease, indicated, is 15,655 people
On the other hand, the undersecretary Daza regretted to announce that in the last 24 hours there were 22 deaths, the highest number to date since the start of the pandemic in the country.
Previously, the highest number had been 13 people, on May 2 and 3 last.
Thus, the total number of deaths in the country due to the coronavirus is 369.
According to Undersecretary Daza, 18 of the deceased correspond to the Metropolitan Region, 2 to Araucanía, 1 to Ñuble and 1 to Valparaíso.
In total, he added, 12 of those people had previous pathologies, that is, 10 of the deceased had no comorbidities.
Regarding hospitalized people, the undersecretary of Healthcare Networks, Arturo Zúñiga said that the patients in intensive care units for coronavirus amount to 663 people, of whom 555 are in mechanical ventilation, and 114 in critical condition.
As for mechanical fans, he indicated, there are 515 available nationwide.
On the other hand, in the last 24 hours 11,502 PCR tests have been performed, thus giving a total of 325,417 tests.
