“The new proposal, and it is the national priority, our priority, is to improve pensions,” Briones told reporters at the La Moneda palace.
“We are going to work with all the energy, with all the strength. The fundamental thing is what the Chileans requested, they demanded with force last year: it is to improve pensions today and tomorrow, and that is what we are at, ”he added.

“There is a huge number of people who do not have the possibility to withdraw anything, we are talking about 2 million. All those who are informal workers do not have funds in the AFP, we have to see if this is the mechanism to help people who are most in need. And you see that people with lower incomes have already withdrawn everything, that about 1,900,000 more, that if this second withdrawal is approved, they will be left without a balance and they will not necessarily be able to solve this problem, which is real, “he said.
