Too much realism was what surprised the journalist from Chilevisión and CNN Chile Daniel Matamala, in the middle of a live dispatch from the city of Puerto Saavedra, where this Monday the eclipse of the Sun was appreciated 100%. A small interviewee, who has not been identified, said that by the next eclipse “we will all be dead.”

This Monday’s solar eclipse was truncated by clouds and rain in the regions of La Araucanía and Los Ríos, where it was expected to be seen in its maximum splendor. However, in some areas the sky opened up and surprised residents and visitors.

The experience of the phenomenon was marked by the covid-19 pandemic, which forced nationals to wear masks and maintain physical distance.

Even those who were in stage 1 (Quarantine) and 2 (Transition) of the Step by Step Plan, were under a ban on interregional travel.

The images, collected on Twitter by different accounts, ended up quickly going viral on networks. The brief conversation with the 42-year-old communicator went like this:

Matamala: “Can you see something of the sun?”

Girl: “Yes, it’s super cool, although we’ll see the other eclipse when we’ll all be dead.”

M: “No, not you. Do not worry. You are going to see other eclipses yet ”.

N and you?”.

M: “No, I am very old so no.”

N: “Easy. I hope that one day they will put together an experiment to survive ”.

M: “Thank you very much … it is the good wishes of this girl (…) We are very old but they, the children, at least have a long time ahead.”

In the social network, one of the many publications reaches almost 1,200 shares and another three thousand ‘likes’.

This total eclipse is the second to have occurred this year in the national territory. It is expected that on December 4, 2021, another will occur that will pass through the Chilean Antarctic and can be partially seen in Continental Chile.

On April 30, 2022, another phenomenon of a partial nature may be seen in much of South America. The next total eclipse in Chile will occur in December 2048.
