La Roja by Martín Lasarte started successfully in this new selection process, by beating by 2-1 to Bolivia, in an international friendly held in El Teniente de Rancagua.
With Claudio Bravo as captainAfter more than three years since the last time, the national team jumped onto the rancaguino field with a team that mixed experience and youth, and drew positive conclusions for future official matches.
In the first half, the national team, although it did not play in a vertiginous way, tried to generate arrivals on goal and did so with fast dynamics, short passes and, although most were erratic, the intention was always to try to advance to the area rival.
The account opening came at 11 minutes and it was special. After a Bolivian defensive failure, Luis Jíménez received only in the area and with a left foot he surprised Carlos Lampe.
The “Magician”, captain and figure of Palestino, celebrated with everything. It had been almost 10 years since the last time he played for Chile (friendly against France), and his last goal with La Roja was in 2005, in qualifying against Venezuela en route to Germany 2006.
Chile was on the right track with the early goal, but Bolivia’s reaction created problems. On a stopped ball, the defenders lost their marks and the eternal Marcelo Moreno Martins connected a header that captain Bravo could not contain (18 ‘).
Despite the high plateau blow, La Roja did not lower his arms and immediately managed to regain the advantage, with a great personal move by Jean Meneses. The “Takeshi” got a pair of dribbles and with another crossed left foot, similar to Jiménez’s, he decreed the 2-1 (20 ‘).
After the goal, La Roja controlled possession in both the first and second half. First they suffered from Bolivian pressure, which greatly interrupted the start, and then from the defensive wall, as the visiting team decided to lock themselves in the area to avoid more goals before the Chilean siege.
In the second half, Chile had the third goal on several occasions, but the counterattacks did not end in a good way, with erratic decisions by Fabián Orellana and César Pinares.

LThe national face improved, precisely, with the departure of both and the entry of Carlos Palacios, who showed flashes of the quality that led him to leave Unión Española to sign at Inter de Porto Alegre.
Finally, in the 80th minute, the clearest of the second half arrived, a powerful shot from Erick Wiemberg, who passed through the side of the Bolivian goal.
For now, Chile’s next challenge should be in June, in a possible triple qualifying date, which has not yet been confirmed by either FIFA and Conmebol.
