With outrage, the Chamber’s Commission for Women and Gender Equality was reacted to the absence of the General Director of the Carabineros, Mario Rozas, who was summoned to a session of this instance to explain the actions of the institution in the case of the femicide of the police officer Norma Vásquez, allegedly at the hands of another police officer identified as Gary Valenzuela.
As reported Cooperative, Rozas was absent from the commission and sent Generals Pamela Olivares and Berta Robles and Major Catherine Loyola. However, this was not accepted by the members of the instance, so they could not expose.
In this regard, the president of the commission, deputy Camila Vallejo (PC) made the referral of “the note of protest or claim to the director general for the absence.”
The parliamentarian said that it is “unpresentable that he is not present because the invitation was to him personally, I do not think it is appropriate to send generals on his behalf in a case that as an authority he must account and respond to the operation of the Carabineros in these cases, and compliance with protocols “.
He stressed that “this commission must be respected, it deserves respect like any other commission of the national congress.”
The parliamentarians will also send a protest note to the Ministry of Finance due to the absence of the budget director, Matías Acevedo, who also did not attend the session in which he had to report on the budget execution of the Ministry of Women in 2020 and the investment projected for 2021.
Finally, the Minister of Women, Mónica Zalaquett, did not go either, but she excused herself.
