The Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTT) announced today that the class B light vehicles with patent ending in digit 0, and whose technical review expires during February, will have until April to carry out the procedure.

The measure -which seeks to alleviate the high demand from the public in the technical review plants and speed up the obtaining of this certificate- will benefit approximately 315 thousand cars they will have more time to comply with this review.

“It is fundamental to be able reduce crowds in the Technical Review Plants during March, considering that many people will attend knowing that they must be up to date with this process and thus be able to obtain their Circulation Permit ”, said the Undersecretary of Transportation, José Luis Domínguez.

Currently, 21.8% of cars have not yet met their review. Therefore, the Government decided extend the digit 0 until April in order to decongest these premises and facilitate the management of care for people.

Dates

The extension announced today by the MTT is added to those already carried out during 2020, in which the digits from 1 to 8 were postponed: for September in the case of 1 and 2, in October it was the turn of the digits 3 and 4, on November 5 and 6, and on December 7 and 8.

Meanwhile, in January it was the turn of those vehicles with PPU ending in digit 9, considering that during 2021 the usual calendar was reestablished. Nevertheless, With the new extension, the car shift will be as follows:

To date, 3,806,115 vehicles nationwide already have their technical review up to date, of which 1,376,226 correspond to the Metropolitan region (36.2%). The figures, which include information up to February 24, also detail that there is 78.2% compliance in the capital.

Undersecretary Domínguez also recalled that “The technical review is essential for road safety, because it allows to check in detail the condition of the tires, brakes, lights, windshield, suspension and alignment of the vehicle ”.

Since the Technical review plants are essential services, for which they are authorized to operate in quarantined communes, people who need to carry out this procedure must previously request a unique individual permit in Virtual Police Station.

In addition, in order to protect the safety of users and staff of these establishments, the MTT prepared a protocol with 10 measures to prevent the risk of contagion by covid-19, which include cleaning before and after the inspection of vehicles, disposal of alcohol gel, temperature measurement, among others.
