The President of the College of Teachers, Carlos Díaz, repudiated the criticisms made by the spokesman minister Jaime Bellolio (UDI) against the Magisterium for its refusal to return to face-to-face classes on March 1 due to the situation of the pandemic.

Consulted in an interview with What Remains of the Day, Díaz crossed out the statements as “regrettable” and invited the minister to “talk with the mayor Cathy Barriga, who has just taken a video saying exactly the same thing as me, and I don’t think she has any intention of hitting the government; I know UDI mayors , his party, who have said that it is absurd to return on March 1st.

He also replied to the words of the UDI Senator Iván Moreira, who said that “many of the teachers have been on vacation for the entire (past) year.”

He reiterated, meanwhile, that He “sees no possibility” of returning to the classroom at least until March 30.
He raised, in that framework, four conditions that, in his opinion, they should exist to guarantee a safe return to the classrooms: that the vaccination scheme is complete – two doses – in education workers; “It is essential to have a controlled pandemic, which means being phase 4 up”; have a transportation plan with the municipalities to guarantee that students do not collapse public transportation because “the possibility of contagion is absolute”; and “to generate work groups in each commune of the country to listen to the school communities.”
Meanwhile, he said was contacted by the Chilean Association of Municipalities to meet on Wednesday because the AChM “is seeing that what I am pointing out is nothing so terrible if there is support from the Government”; also that day in the morning will present to the advisory council, where the Ministers of Education and Health, Raúl Figueroa and Enrique Paris will participate.
