He Teachers College noted that the advisory council for the reopening of schools – promoted by the Ministry of Education– It has no legitimacy if the representatives of the school communities are not present.
This was pointed out by the president of the union, Mario Aguilar, after part of the members of the instance met with the President Sebastián Piñera, officializing the operation of this advisory council.
The objective of the instance is to seek to unblock and give confidence to the school system to return to face-to-face classes, given the scarce reception that the call of the Minister of Education, Raúl Figueroa, during this year.
The president of the College of Teachers said that this body lacks legitimacy and added that the issue is being used for communication purposes.
The Minister of Education, Raúl Figueroa, meanwhile, pointed out that the body also promoted by UNESCO will not be binding for the plan to return to face-to-face classes and explained that the absence of mayors on the advisory council, it is because there are other instances of dialogue with them.
Although the advisory council is classified as progress, the measure will not have the desired impact if it does not include all the actors in the school system, a point that has been the cornerstone of the conflict over the return to face-to-face classes.
