After a series of homicides and attacks that occurred between November 1 and 8 in the communes of Santiago and Estación Central, the Carabineros found that in each of them there was a behavior pattern, a modus operandi and a specific type of victims. With this background, the search for the person responsible for the multiple crimes began, proceedings in which the records of the surveillance cameras played a decisive role.

Is about Diego Alexander Ruiz Restrepo, arrested by the police and brought to justice as the author of at least seven completed and two attempted murders. The 30-year-old Colombian citizen approached his victims without provocation, while they slept on public roads.

After his identification, GOPE officials arrived at the man’s home, achieving his arrest and finding evidence and DNA remains of some of the victims.

According to reports, on November 8 he carried out five of the homicides, between 3:30 and 6:30.

The first fatal victim was the cOlombian Carlos Rivas Angulo, who was attacked on November 1, at about 6:15 am, on Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins street with Ecuador.

That same day, at 6:50 a.m., he killed Guido Gallardo Contreras, 64 years old, on Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins avenue.

On November 8 he killed Marcia Tapia Lancon, at 3:30 am, on Avenida Libertad Bernardo O’Higgins with Calle Meiggs.

Minutes later, at 3:25 a.m., he murdered Bernardo O’Higgins on Libertad Avenue with Exposición a Leonidas Panes Fierro.

Then he attacked to death Pedro Bustamante Babbonney, in Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins with Exhibition.

At 4:15 a.m. he killed another man, not yet identified, also in Libertador Bernardo O`Higgins.

15 minutes later, he does the same with amajor cult, not yet identified, in Nicasio Retamales de Estación Central.

His actions were recorded in the surveillance cameras. Recordings that were key to their individualization and positioning on the event sites.

At 3:17 am this Sunday, Ruiz Restrepo is seen crossing the Alameda towards the south sidewalk.

At 3:19, he continues his run through the west.
