This Monday, the resignation of the head of the Epidemiology Department of the Ministry of Health, Rafael Araos, was announced.

Araos had assumed his position on March 23, and he leaves his position, according to Minsal sources, because now he will assume responsibilities strictly linked to COVID-19, such as the relationship with universities, with technical organizations such as ICOVID and other institutions.
In his previous position, Araos was supposed to handle all notifiable illnesses, and in his new role as advisor he will be focused squarely on the coronavirus.
Araos also appeared in the statements made by the Prosecutor’s Office in the framework of the investigation into the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, which mainly targets the former Minister of Health, Jaime Mañalich.
