Subjects burn Transantiago bus in Central Station

A Transantiago bus was set on fire tonight by unknown persons in Villa Portales, located in the Central Station district.

The incident occurred on Avenida Portales with Las Encinas, in front of the Metropolitan Naval Station.

Two firefighters from Santiago went to the scene to put out the flames. Carabineros personnel also arrived.

“At around 9:30 p.m., a Transantiago bus that was traveling along Avenida Portales, upon reaching Avenida San Alberto Hurtado, at the time the bus was circulating, one of the passengers stood up and threatened the driver with a pistol-type firearm, ordering him to stop the machine. The machine was stopped and other passengers got on from the outside to pour accelerating fluid into the vehicle and then turn it on and flee in an unknown direction, “said the guard officer of the Central Santiago Prefecture, Captain Vladimir Úbeda.

According to the officer, leaflets were found at the site stating that they are people from an “anarchic movement” which is being investigated by OS-9 and Labocar, after instruction from the prosecutor on duty.

No injured people were registered as a result of the fact.
