Street traders from Estación Central are protesting at this time in the Alameda, setting up barricades asking for permits to work.

Yesterday Carabineros, after a violent confrontation with the street vendors on Monday, tried to remove the vendors from the sidewalk, but they moved to the central bandejón of the Alameda.

On the other hand, the residents of Central Station, accuse that crime has increased in the sector, more in times of pandemic.

Street vendors need to be willing to pay a cheaper patent in order to have an established space.

“We don’t want anything for free. If they give us a meter, we will pay for it. We just want to work for our families,” said one of the protesters.
