The spokeswoman for the Supreme Court, Gloria Ana Chevesich, regretted the decision of the Chamber of Deputies to rule by majority in favor of the admissibility of the constitutional accusation against the Minister of the Court of Appeals of Valparaíso, Silvana Donoso.

“It is very regrettable that the Chamber of Deputies, in a divided vote, has declared that the constitutional accusation deducted against the Minister of the Court of Appeals of Valparaíso, Silvana Donoso, is accepted,” said Chevesich.

The minister of the highest court of Jutsicia added that “although the Supreme Court respects the powers that parliamentarians have, in this case the deputies, to deduce accusations against the members of the higher court of justice, it considers that since the cause established in the fundamental charter, that is, notable abandonment of duties, concludes that (the decision adopted) constitutes a serious attack on one of the main values of the judiciary that it is judicial independence and he hopes that the Senate shares this position and therefore rejects it ”.
