Doubts remain about the South American Qualifiers Heading to Qatar 2022. From Conmebol the position is to start the process to the next World Cup with the double date of October but, from FIFA, they think something very different.

As revealed by TNT Sports Argentina, the return of La Roja and the rest of the teams could be postponed to March 2021 since, from the governing body of world football, they are not very convinced that it can be played in the remainder of the year .

“This Monday a virtual meeting of the Council of Conmebol was held to discuss this issue. The meeting ended but they entered an intermission room until tomorrow (today). They made some requests to FIFA because the intention of Conmebol is to save the Qualifiers, at least the double date of November, “he said. Fernando Czyz in the aforementioned medium.

The same journalist, however, detailed that the plan of FIFA, who organize the Qualifiers, is that in South America they start in March 2021 but with an important change: three games per date, instead of the two that have been played historically.

“In this quarter-half meeting, October, the Playoffs are not played. They fight for November, at the most. And maybe Gianni Infantino (FIFA boss) himself will be at tomorrow’s meeting ”, they detailed from TNT.

Finally, they assured that the majority of the Federations do not agree that the double October date be played and they point to November since only one country is in favor of not being postponed again.

“The vote to play the Qualifiers was 7-1 against. There is only one that voted positive: Brazil. The rest all voted negative. Venezuela and Bolivia did not vote because they have yet to define the presidents of the federations ”, they closed from the trans-Andean milieu.
