A call for self-defense was made by the president of the Sociedad de Fomento Agrícola (Sofo) in Temuco, after a farmer from Collipulli denounced that the Mapuche leader Víctor Ancalaf blocked access to a blueberry harvest.

The president of the Temuco Sofo, Roberto Heise, urged himself to defend himself after the Collipulli farmer, César Hompart, denounced the blocking of access to a property where blueberries are harvested, for which the Mapuche leader and former CAM spokesman, Víctor Ancalaf, would be responsible.

In an audio collected by BioBioChile, the affected party indicated that the situation would affect 300 families in the commune.

“They are destroying me, this field was always a model of innovation in fruit growing that the potential government wants so much, but when it comes to the Quiubo, I am left alone,” he said.

Faced with this, the president of the Sofo, assured that the situation has been repeated for months, so instead of resorting to the police, he called for self-defense.

“I call on farmers to be vigilant, to prepare very well for their own defense (…) we will have to defend it personally with our own means“, He pointed out and added that” there are dozens of complaints (…) but the guy continues to act. ”

The Multigremial de La Araucanía had an opposite view, since its president, Patricio Santibáñez, called on the authorities to act quickly in response to the complaints.

Radio Bío Bío contacted the recently created Security Coordination Unit in La Araucanía, however, they avoided publicly referring to what they described as “transcendent”, adding that they advocate conflict resolution respecting the rule of law.
