On Sunday afternoon, a new shipment of two million doses of the Sinovac vaccine against covid-19 arrived in Chile, which came from China and with which 12 million vaccines are completed from this laboratory in the country.
The shipment was received by the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris; the Chinese Ambassador to Chile, Niu Qingbao, and the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations, Rodrigo Yáñez.
This is the sixth shipment of vaccines of this type, which will be distributed throughout the country and will allow to continue the vaccination campaign against covid-19 that began on March 3.
With this, the total number of vaccines (Sinovac and Pfizer-BioNTech) received to date is 13,068,351, considering the two million doses just arrived.
According to data from the Department of Statistics and Health Information, as of Saturday, March 20, at 6:11 p.m., 5,596,657 people have been inoculated in the country, of which 2,867,453 correspond to people who completed their vaccination schedule, which is equivalent to 57.3% of the five million people defined as priority groups. In addition, 2,829,531 are adults aged 60 years and over.
Meanwhile, the advance of vaccination in the target population, 15 million Chileans, is 37.3%.
According to the established vaccination schedule, next week the inoculation for transportation and basic services personnel will continue, and vaccination will begin for those who are board members and election support personnel; starting with people who are between 51 and 56 years old, on Monday, March 22.
