The mayor of Recoleta, Daniel Jadue (PC), was included by the Simon Wiesenthal Center in its list of the ten greatest anti-Semites of 2020, a list that also considers Ayatollah Khamenei and the social network Telegram, the latter described as “the weapon online preferred by racists and those who hate Jews ”.

According to the document of the institution dedicated to documenting the victims of the Holocaust, Jadue is described as “a man who can lead the nation” and is classified as a “potential future President”, alluding to his position as the main letter of the opposition in the polls.

“Using municipal funds to finance pro-BDS (global pro-Palestinian campaign to increase economic and political pressure on Israel) and anti-Israel activities, Mayor Jadue targets the Jewish community with pernicious smears,” the document states.

In this way, they recall some statements by the communal chief, focusing on the fact that he always refers to the Jews of Chile as the “Zionist” community of Chile.

They also recall that last year, in May, the Recoleta Municipal Council approved a resolution stating that “the Palestinian people have been the victim of a deliberate plan of violence and terror by armed Zionist groups.”

In statements to Radio Bío Bío, Associate Dean and Director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Global Agenda for Social Action, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, explained that “the reason why Jadue is in the top ten is because he could be the next president. Someone who is running on a platform saying that the Jewish community is a subversive force, that they could stab their own country in the back serving another state. We already know what the Nazis did with those things. “
