The already declared presidential candidate has had several meetings Sebastian Sichel after leaving, with a forced foot, the presidency of BancoEstado. Thus, the also former minister – who aspires to participate as an independent in the primaries of Chile Vamos – has held several meetings with his closest team to define the structure of what will be his campaign team in the face of the official presidential definition.
Sichel is preparing the launch of this milestone, where he will announce the members of that team and, depending on their environment, the bet is to do it during the first half of January, either on the 14th or 15th of that month, in a place yet to be defined.
Among the decisions that the former minister has already made are that former DC and former Citizens Juan José Santa Cruz will be his political coordinator; while those in charge of the programmatic team will also former DC Mariana Aylwin, Esteban Jadresic and Ricardo Escobar. All old acquaintances with whom he has spent an important part of his political adventures.
The structure also includes a person in charge of adding volunteers: Jorge Tuñon, who through the “summos” web platform hopes to generate a network of adherents to Sichel.
The former president of BancoEstado, also, according to the same sources, has almost settled the position of press and campaign chief. Both will be roles to be played by women.
The same sources assured that Sichel has spoken with the niece of former Interior Minister Andrés Chadwick, Maria Irene Chadwick, who was Director of Programming in the first government of President Sebastián Piñera. According to the environment of the former president of the State Bank, they are in talks to see if he will join their campaign.
The driving force behind the campaign has also started to take shape in Sichel’s team. In the programmatic team there will be at least six strategic pillars: “let the State do the hit”; increase the base of the economy through entrepreneurship; innovation and renewal of people who join politics; “To govern is to prioritize”, with the aim of putting the accent on childhood, the elderly and poverty. Likewise, there will be an area focused on the circular economy and another dedicated to culture.
Sichel also hopes to add leaders from Chile Vamos to his team. The most public support he has so far is from deputy RN Thomas Fuentes -with whom he will meet this Tuesday- who hopes that he will join the political area. At that appointment, which will be at 11.00, Senator Francisco Chahuán -who seeks to be proclaimed as presidential standard-bearer by RN (see secondary) – will also attend so that there is a “fair play” and a consolidation of a “center” axis.
They talked before and after the publication of the last Cadem poll published by LT Domingo, which projected scenarios in which Sichel won in the primary in Chile Vamos. The former president of Banco Estado maintains a close and fluid relationship with former Interior Minister Andrés Chadwick, whom he approached a few years ago because they took classes together at the San Sebastián University, an entity to which he would reintegrate.
According to the same sources, both commented on the opinion poll and talk every week and Chadwick “advises” it in different areas, especially, they say, on “media exposure.”
In the UDI, in fact, some transmit that Chadwick would be supporting Sichel’s candidacy, however, in the surroundings of the former president of Banco Estado they convey that it is a “friendship relationship” and that the former Minister of the Interior has not participated in meetings related to the campaign.
