Shooting in Plaza de Maipú leaves a woman dead and at least four other people injured

A woman died and at least four other people were injured after a shooting that was registered in the Maipú Square during the afternoon of this Tuesday. The injured were taken to Hospital El Carmen, while the Undersecretary of Crime Prevention, Katherine martorell, already moved to the health center.

According to preliminary information from the Carabineros, a group of subjects – who have not yet been identified and who were mobilizing in a white vehicle – fired around ten shots in the vicinity of a Christmas fair. In conversation with 24 Horas, the director of Hospital El Carmen de Maipú, Juan Kehr, He reported that “We have the entry of 5 people as a result of this shooting that took place near Plaza de Maipú. Therefore, a patient of around 60 years of age entered cardiorespiratory arrest and died ”. Kehr explained that this person “arrived here with a cervical injury and died a few moments later” and added that “The other four patients are currently being evaluated and two of them will enter the ward in the next few minutes.”

From the Western Prefecture, Lieutenant Colonel Manuel Hevia indicated that “Work is being done on a license plate to establish direct participation in the shooting. Carabineros is working hard to find the whereabouts of these antisocials “.

And they added: “Apparently we would be quickly finding the whereabouts of the vehicle (…). Five people are injured: three men and two women. Unfortunately, we can point out that one of them, an adult woman, would be deceased ”. The death of this person was also confirmed by the municipality.

For her part, the mayor of Maipú, Cathy Barriga, through his Instagram account, stated that “As a municipality we have permanently requested the support of the police in our commune. The government has to be present (…), our commune needs permanent support ”.
