546 fewer active cases of coronavirus reported the Seremi de Salud del Bío Bío in the latest regional covid-19 report, falling from 2,017 registered on Friday to 1,471 this Saturday.
This does not mean that sanitary conditions have improved, since the withdrawal responds to the recalculation made based on the recommendation of the National Covid-19 Advisory Council which, after scientific evidence, showed that the virus ceases to be infectious after the eighth day of contracting the disease, so that the isolation of these patients lasts a maximum of 11 days, but not close contacts.
Despite the drop, the narrow difference in active cases between the provinces of Bío Bío and Arauco continues, considering that the first doubles in more than double the population.
The current infected in the province of Concepción reached 785, Bío Bío with 379 and Arauco 291.
Part of the explanation about the situation of the active cases was given by the Minister of Health, Héctor Muñoz.
The head of Public Health in the area, Cecilia Soto, referred to the duration of the mandatory confinement that close contacts of active cases must comply with and the percentages of family outbreaks that remain in force.
From the Health Seremi they also estimated 442 deaths due to the coronavirus in the area, three more than in the previous report. Meanwhile, 229 new infected of covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
Thus, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began, climbed to 28,207, of which 1,474 are still active.
Concepción led the numbers with 35 positive cases. Los Angeles and Coronel followed with 29, and San Pedro de la Paz with 22.
The availability of critical beds continues to be around 20%, with 45 ICU units and 25 ICUs, which is equivalent to 23% and 17%, respectively.
Those arrested for violating health regulations during the previous day, that is, curfew and quarantines in the region, reached 64, of the more than 3,000 people who were controlled.
