This Thursday the National Institute of Statistics reported the Consumer’s price index (CPI) for the month of September, which scored a monthly variation of 0.6%.
Thus, the index accumulates 2.1% so far this year and a twelve-month rise of 3.1%.
In the ninth month of the year, “ten of the twelve divisions that make up the CPI basket contributed positive impacts on the monthly variation of the index and two presented negative impacts,” indicated the INE.
Between divisions with increases in your prices Food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.8%) stood out with 0.365 percentage points (pp.); and home equipment and maintenance (1.0%) with 0.066 pp.
In turn, among the divisions that consigned monthly casualties Alcoholic beverages and tobacco stood out in their prices (-0.5%), which had a -0.022 point impact.
Products that went up and down in price
-Tomato: in September it presented a monthly increase of 21.8%, contributing 0.074pp. to the variation of the general indicator. It accumulated 40.5% at the ninth month of the year and 34.4% at twelve months.
-Beef: recorded a monthly increase of 2.7%, with an incidence of 0.053pp., and variations of 11.3% so far this year and of 20.4% at twelve months.
-Pork Meat: registered a monthly rise of 6.9%, with 0.034pp., accumulating 9.8% so far this year and 16.0% at twelve months.
-Soda: recorded a monthly variation of 2.6%, with 0.029pp., accumulating 4.0% so far this year and 6.1% at twelve months.
-Household items: furniture and household items had a rise of 2.4% in September, as did electrical or non-household appliances (3.6%). The refrigerator stood out (6.4%), with an incidence of 0.012pp.
-Coffee and substitutes: registered a monthly decrease of 9.1%, with an incidence of -0.014pp., registering a variation of -4.1% so far this year and -3.4% at twelve months.
-Deodorants and antiperspirants: registered a monthly decrease of 6.2%, with -0.011pp., accumulating 0.6% so far this year and -0.3% at twelve months.
-Alcoholic drinks: posted monthly declines in three of its four classes. The most important were distilled beverages (-2.1%), beer (-0.6%) and whiskey (-5.5%).
