Senator Juan Antonio Coloma referred to the failure of the Rejection option in the Constitutional Plebiscite and pointed out that “it is a result that is in the low range, no doubt, it was possible, but it is low. It is not something that can keep us happy, the other way around ”.
Regarding what is coming for the next few months, he stressed that “There are two ways to face these results, lower your arms or understand that this is the beginning of a process. We think more about the second and concentrate more on the unity of the constituent process that begins on April 11. I am a supporter, and that forces us to have a unique list, regarding Chile Vamos and other people, who are not in Chile Vamos. There are common aspects that can bring us closer to a scenario of greater voting, to have real representation in that process, which will be very decisive for Chile ”.
In the balance, in any case, Coloma lowered the profile to the defeat of the sector that represented the Rejection in the UDI.
“They are part of the processes, The question was whether there was a way A or a way B to generate a process that modernized the Constitution. A path was chosen and the processes in democracy are respected. This is the beginning, this is not the end of something, the election of the conventional ones comes, it is already clear that it will be 100% (Constitutional Covention) ”, he said on Radio Bío Bío.
“There, where unity is key. That is why my reflection is that we could have discrepancies, it is clear that in our sector we did not all think the same, it is part of legitimacy and, now, we have to work together, have a good constitutional representation and that the values and principles that we have have the best possible representation ”, he added.
Regarding the little presence of UDI militants on Sunday night at the Providencia headquarters, Coloma pointed out that “I have been arriving from Maule, our party has a lot of regional representation, each one is in different places.”
In any case, Senator Coloma reaffirmed that his sector will face together what is coming.
Finally, he ruled out the option of President Piñera resigning before the broad triumph of the Approval.
“That is totally ruled out, part of the constitutional process, of which we were part, and that I was precisely part of, is because there were voices that wanted to end a constitutional process, “he said.
