This Sunday the Government entered a request before the Constitutional Court (TC) to stop the project for the second withdrawal of 10% of the pension funds.

La Moneda argued that “some parliamentarians they are trying to write a parallel constitution, through constitutional reform projects that introduce transitory articles, without modifying the current Constitution ”.

Currently the project is in its second constitutional process in the Senate and this Wednesday it will be reviewed in the Chamber of that Corporation.

In this scenario, during this Monday the president of the Constitution, Legislation, Justice and Regulation commission, the socialist Alfonso De Urresti, formally requested the Board to become part of the requirement to defend the legitimacy of the processing of the second withdrawal.

“(…) It is absolutely a lack of deference to the legislative process regarding a bill that has been duly processed,” the PS senator remarked.

“I formally ask that the Senate Board become a party and we submit that to discussion and a vote to be part of the discussion of this project in the Constitutional Court,” added De Urresti.

In this regard, the Vice President of the Senate, Rabindranath Quinteros, assured that part of the requirement will be made.

“We are going to take part in the procedure before the Constitutional Court where We will present that Congress has the powers to dispatch this project and that this does not violate any constitutional norm, “Quinteros remarked, assuring that they will” defend the prerogatives that Congress has. ”

In parallel, today it was known that the deputy of the Christian Democracy, Gabriel silver, submitted a presentation to the TC -representing the bench of DC deputies- seeking that the requirement entered by the Executive is declared incompetent to stop the second withdrawal.

In the document, the Falangist deputies argue that it was a constitutional reform that met the required quorum, adding that La Moneda’s decision dynamite the little governance that remains to the Executive in our country.
