He began practicing his sport about seventy years ago, when the military was not yet in power in the Southeast Asian country.

It was in the late 1950s that he was illustrated by his performances. In 1958, he won the “Mister Olympic” contest and the following year he was crowned “Mister Burma” in this country, where bodybuilding contests draw crowds.

“All my brothers are dead when they were around seventy years old, but I am still here”, tells AFP.

He attributes his longevity to his disciplined way of life, with religious practice, healthy eating … and lots of physical exercise.

Sein Maung says that as a teenager he already liked to lift heavy wooden blocks in a small town in the rural Ayeyarwaddy region.

It was during his military service, in 1950, when he attended his first bodybuilding demonstration.
