A historical and cultural virtual webinar entitled “Great Characters of History”, organized by Inversiones Security, caused a storm in the Jewish Community of Chile, because the financial entity of Banco Security decided to open the cycle with Adolf Hitler.
And as if it wasn’t enough, he added a recommendation to read the book “My struggle”, the emblematic text of Nazism authored by the same German leader, who led the “Third Reich” during World War II and is responsible for the genocide of millions of Jews in concentration camps, in the fateful way, by them called “Solution Final”.
Security’s unfortunate decision generated the immediate annoyance of the Jewish community as soon as some of its members began to receive emails with the poster inviting them to a Cultural gathering.
They did not delay in expressing their annoyance to know and the Bank had to go out to repair damages urgently.

“We recommend reading the book ‘My fight’ written by Adolf Hitler ”.
That was the advice in the poster that Inversiones Security gave to invite its community of clients, through an email, to participate in the beginning of the cycle of webinars called “Great Characters in History”, which in its first edition, scheduled for Thursday September 10, announced… Hitler, an activity by the historian and journalist Maria Francisca Wilson, journalist, doctor (c) in Contemporary History and master’s degree in Arab and Islamic Studies.
What was thought, they swear with innocence, as a pleasant Cultural Gathering, became the worst headache for senior executives, not only at Inversiones Security, but also for the Bank and its entire Holding Company.
Later, the speaker explained that Hitler would be the first of a series of characters that included Mao, Osama Bin Laden and even Rasputin and the intention was to analyze the most controversial figures in world history.
Nuisance on scale
After the poster went viral on social networks, questions began, both from the Jewish Community, as well as from parliamentarians such as the DC deputy, Gabriel Silber, and other political actors.
“As the Jewish Community of Chile we turn to you to express our amazement, surprise and deep annoyance by the Cultural Tertulia promoted by Grupo Security entitled ‘Adolf Hitler, the person who determined the history of the 20th century’ to be held on September 10 by historian Francisca Wilson ”, says the letter sent to Banco Security.
“We are extremely surprised that a serious, ethical and responsible entity, exalts the figure of one of the most sinister and dark people in the history of humanity, such as Adolf Hitler responsible for the systematic murder of more than 15 million minorities (…) The presentation message of the aforementioned character barely glimpses his horrifying and macabre participation in the history of Humanity ”, they add.
“It is also worrying that they suggest reading the book ‘My struggle’, that in diverse democratic countries of the world, is prohibited for being a promoter of hatred, violence and discrimination ”, they express, with barely contained fury.

Fix mess
With the storm unleashed, Grupo Security’s reaction did not delay.
Using his Twitter account, Inversiones Security, he publicly apologized on Friday afternoon, modified the schedule and canceled the “character”.
“We apologize publicly for having included in our cycle of cultural gatherings a character as harmful to humanity as Adolf Hitler, who does not represent in the least the values and principles of our institution,” said the holding company.
Likewise, the same entity by means of a letter added that “both the selection of the character and the recommendation of the reading were a mistake. This ideology does not represent in any way the values and principles that have always guided our institution ”.
Among the measures, along with ensuring that situations like the previous one will not be repeated, they also specified that Hitler will be replaced by an Egyptian pharaoh: “Pharaoh Akhenaten, the Great Reformer of Antiquity”, detailed the new invitation from Inversiones Security.
