From the Government, the Minister of Labor, María José Zaldívar, affirmed that continuing with this initiative, without acknowledging the advances of the Executive, “does not seem correct.”
An eventual second withdrawal of 10% of pension funds has slowly been gaining followers. Since last long weekend until this Wednesday, different statements have been made in adherence to this initiative, that crosses the different political sectors.
For example, the Senator of National Renovation, Manuel José Ossandón, assured that it would be inevitable to support a new retirement because, in his opinion, “people don’t have what to eat”; Meanwhile, the Christian Democrat, Ximena Rincón, said that “with the drama that thousands of Chileans are experiencing, without help to face the pandemic, there is no other option but to support a second withdrawal.”
However, Before the bill reaches the Senate, it must go through the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies.
Thus, starting at 3:00 p.m. this Wednesday, the Chamber Constitution Committee will continue to review the five bills related to a possible withdrawal from the individually funded funds.
Which are? The one that seeks to modify the Constitution, to enable the withdrawal of pension funds, in the case of people affected by a terminal illness; the one that seeks to allow the exceptional withdrawal of funds accumulated in insurance companies, under the modality of life annuities; the one that plans to allow the advance payment of pensions contracted in the form of a life annuity; the one that hopes to establish an exceptional withdrawal mechanism; and the one that empowers the Family Judge to authorize the withdrawal of pension funds from food debtors.
In this regard, Deputy Pamela Jiles affirmed that there is no other possibility to help people, in the midst of the economic crisis.
“It seems to me that it is the natural course. There is no other possibility of help for people. Citizens, voters across the country, are demanding that their representatives clearly state that they are with the second 10% withdrawal “, Held.
For her part, the UDI legislator, María José Hoffmann, asked the Government to sponsor a short law to help the terminally ill and for them to be able to make some kind of withdrawal.
“We are asking the Government not only, for example, to allow terminally ill patients to withdraw their pensions, to present a short law for that, we are asking the Government to give it urgency. This Congress has to stop being a circus. It has to be transformed into a space where it is seriously debated, where the real arguments are seen ”, he assured.
During this day, the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, María José Zaldívar, pointed out that advancing in the initiative of an eventual new retirement, without recognizing the efforts of the Executive – for example – in terms of employment subsidies “does not seem correct” and He asserted that the current situation is diametrically different from July.
“The situation we have today is absolutely different from what we had in July, and therefore moving forward on this path, without acknowledging everything that has been done, everything that has been advanced, does not seem correct. Besides this we have to be clear about what the objective is. If we want to improve pensions, we cannot use the resources before, ”he argued.
In addition, the Secretary of State referred to the work that La Moneda is doing with the parliamentarians of Chile Vamos, with the aim of improving the pensions of current and future pensioners, to generate contribution incentives and introduce elements of solidarity to the system.
Let us remember that in the face of a possible new withdrawal from the pension funds, the Superintendency of the branch warned that 4.2 million people would be left without savings.
