After 8:00 p.m. this Wednesday, the session of the Senate Hall ended where the constitutional reform project promoted by the deputies to allow a second withdrawal of pension funds was being discussed.

However, the day was closed without the initiative being voted, so the debate will continue its course in the Chamber from 10:00 in the morning this Thursday, in which case it will be subject to scrutiny by the Chamber High.

Then, as the second point in the table, the alternative project promoted by the Government will be reviewed, which was modified by the parliamentarians, who eliminated several of the most controversial points, such as the “self-loan”.

However, the political world has already advanced that this latest initiative has prospects to finally be approved in the Senate. In particular, Manuel José Ossandón (RN), Juan Castro (RN), David Sandoval (UDI) and José Durana (UDI), key votes for the success of the initiative, announced through a letter that they will support the Government’s project after the changes that were carried out and left it similar to the reform promoted by the opposition.

Mainly, among their reasons they cited the delay that would mean the post-legislative discussion before the Constitutional Court, whose path would be avoidable by supporting the La Moneda project.

At the close of the day on Tuesday, the Minister of Finance, Ignacio Briones, dismissed the opposition criticisms about the lack of measures and public policies, recalling the Fogape loans and the Emergency Family Income (IFE).

Meanwhile, the head of Labor, María José Zaldívar, gave an account of the procedures to legislate under the procedures of the Constitution and assured that the opposition is making a constitutional reform through a different route, pointing against this withdrawal proposal.
