Starting at 5:00 p.m. this Friday, the Senate Constitution Committee will begin to analyze the constitutional reform that would allow a second withdrawal of 10% of pension funds.

The ministers of Labor and Social Welfare, María José Zaldívar, and of Finance, Ignacio Briones, are invited to the session this afternoon.

The initiative presented by deputy Pamela Jiles (PH) was already approved last Tuesday in the Lower House by a large majority, obtaining 130 votes in favor, 18 against and 2 abstentions.

The Government has been against this second withdrawal of part of the funds of the AFPs, arguing that it will harm the pensions of millions of people.

However, opposition senators, and some ruling party members, have argued that the Executive’s help to citizens has not been enough, so they would be inclined to support this reform.

Even deputy Jiles announced Thursday that she has already drafted a new project to allow a third withdrawal of 10% of the AFPs, if necessary.
