This Wednesday, September 23, the processing of the bill that would allow a second withdrawal of 10% of AFP funds to alleviate the covid-19 crisis will begin.

The news was announced by the deputy Pamela Jiles (Humanist Party) who through Twitter described the event as “urgent news”, thanking her counterpart Matías Walker (DC) for the efforts in favor of the project.

This project seeks, like the first withdrawal of 10%, that members can access a second payment of a percentage of their pension savings in their individual funds. The initiative establishes that said withdrawal may be made as of December 2020.

The project proposes that those who have withdrawn the first 10% and wish to reimburse their funds, may do so without prejudice to this second payment. It also qualifies it as “compatible”, so insurers will not be able to hinder their members.

This Wednesday, the Constitution Commission will define the admissibility of the project, which if approved will go to the Chamber for further discussion and voting.
