This Tuesday the Court of Appeals of Santiago will again review the precautionary measure of Hernán Calderón Argandoña, formalized by the frustrated patricide against his father and other crimes.
It is a new attempt by the 23-year-old’s defense to serve preventive detention with house arrest, instead of remaining in James 1.
Let us remember that Calderón Argandoña is being held in the Ambulatory Health Area of the prison (ASA), where it remains in quarantine by protocols of the pandemic.
In this context, and possibly due to the possibility of entering one of the accused modules after completing his quarantine, his defense attorney, Mario Vargas, he asked again to modify the preventive detention to total house arrest.
Even, as it transpired, the professional proposed that the defendant comply with the precautionary measure at his mother’s house, Raquel Argandoña, in the Valparaíso region.
However, the Fourth Guarantee Court of Santiago rejected in the first instance to change the precautionary, with which the defense went to the capital’s appeal court, which scheduled a hearing for this Tuesday in the Ninth Chamber to review the appeals.
It should be noted that last August the same courtroom of the Court of Appeals ordered Nano Calderón to leave the El Cedro psychiatric clinic in the La Reina commune, where he served his preventive detention in the first instance.
