Disney announced on Thursday a new Star Wars film, titled “Rogue Squad”, which will be led by Patty jenkins (“Wonder Woman”) and whose premiere is scheduled for the end of 2023.
The story will unfold in the “Future of the galaxy” and will present a “new generation of space pilots, who will earn their badges and risk their lives,” according to Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, the company that created the legendary saga and bought by the world’s number one in entertainment.
Jenkins immediately posted on Twitter a video in which he put on a Star Wars helmet and assured that his inspiration for assuming the making of this film was his father, who was a pilot in the air force.
“When he lost his life in the service of this country, it ignited in me the desire to turn all that tragedy and emotion into making one day the greatest fighter pilot movie of all time,” he said.
Jenkins will be the first woman to direct a Star Wars feature film.

“These interconnected series, along with future stories, will thrill new audiences” and “they will recognize our most passionate fans,” Kennedy said.
Another new series will be “Country”based on crowd favorite Lando Calrissian from the original Stars Wars trilogy and will be owned by “Dear White People” creator Justin Simien.
As for the spin-off movie series “Rogue One”, it will be called “Andor” and its production has just started in London.
Actor Diego Luna will star in the film alongside Stellan Skarsgard and Fiona Shaw.
