Francisca Rivas and Chris Vorpahl took the national women’s beach volleyball for the first time in its history to a podium at the World Tour, after they reached the bronze in the 1 star tournament that was played until today in Vilnius, Lithuania.

After falling in the semifinals against the Italians Claudia Scampoli and Margherita Bianchin (18-21 and 19-21), the nationals faced the locals for third place Leva Dumbauskaite and Karole Virbickaite, who they defeated by 21-19 and 21-15, thus closing a lucid performance.

“We are very happy with this achievement. It is not a coincidence or coincidence since we have worked hard for this, and it was a goal that we had been setting ourselves. Although one always wants more, it comforts me to feel that we are close and that we just have to keep working to take Chile to the top. We thank everyone who makes it possible for us to be here, the Chilean Volleyball Federation, the Chilean Olympic Committee, the IND, also our families and coaches for this beautiful moment, ”said Chris Vorpahl.

“This is a dreamed, historic day that we have been waiting for a long time. We are happy for the work that is being done in the selection not only of us, but also of the entire team, of the four of us who are here, and of all the girls who are in Chile. We are very happy for the opportunity that the authorities gave us and we can only thank the technical team and each professional who works with us and especially our families, ”said Francisca Rivas.

“With the girls we have worked for a long time for these kinds of results. We have been in Europe for three weeks now and now the result is reflected with this bronze, ”said coach Fernando Ramos.

It should be remembered that this tour that the Chilean volleyball players are doing is part of their preparation process with a view to the third phase of the Continental Cup, a circuit that will deliver a ticket for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
