Riots in Plaza Italia: 21 people will be made available to the prosecution

Around 6:00 p.m. yesterday, people began to gather around the central Santiago roundabout, the epicenter of protests during the social outbreak, mixing slogans in favor of the Mapuche cause and the option Approval of the constituent plebiscite of October 25.

In the place, where about 300 people gathered, there were riots, barricades and Carabineros Special Forces used the water-throwing car on various occasions.

In its first report of the day, Carabineros indicated that there were five detainees, but later the institution updated the information, detailing that finally there were 21 people deprived of liberty.

“People, for no reason, begin to attack Carabineros personnel, throwing blunt objects, which consisted of stones, sticks and others, which obviously cause injuries to our Carabineros personnel,” said Carabineros commander Rodrigo Soto.

“As a result of the intervention, the arrest of 21 people was achieved, who will be made available to the Public Ministry,” he added.
