Mario Alberto Rozas Córdova, former general director of the Carabineros, appears as a defendant in 36 complaints, por crimes associated with the control of public order and violations of Human Rights during the social outbreak.

In these investigations, it is sought to establish the level of knowledge of the police actions that the high command had and if there were actions to exonerate the perpetrators of responsibilities.

The last judicial action against him was presented in October, after the formalization of the police officer Sebastián Zamora,
accused of pushing a teenager into the Mapocho River. The lawsuit against Rozas invoked the crime of attempted murder, as an accomplice or accessory.

However, his departure from the head of the carabinieri does not extinguish his criminal responsibility in the case of being convicted. In addition, he will no longer have the legal support of the entity and will have to finance his defense. In some of the 36 complaints against him, Rozas has already testified as a witness.

One of the lawyers who sued him for the crime of torture in the midst of the social outbreak was Luis Mariano Rendón. The jurist asked that the now retired uniformed man be formalized.

The president of the Human Rights Commission, Carlos Margotta, who also complained, affirmed that although Rozas no longer wears a uniform, he has to be tried.

The legal actions against Rozas mostly invoke, the crimes of attempted homicide, torture, unlawful coercion and even crimes against humanity.
